Sandy River Gorge Field Study Award
The Sandy River Gorge Field Study Award is an endowed fund administered by the Biology Department at 精东AV. The fund was established by Arch and Fran Diack and provides an opportunity to conduct student-originated, independent research and field studies in the Sandy River Gorge east of Portland. The award was established in recognition of the Diack's great interest in the Sandy River Gorge Natural Area and their desire to encourage original contributions by students to scientific problems in the natural world. The Nature Conservancy shares in this cooperative project.
Potential topics include (but are not limited to) plant and animal ecology and behavior, geology, air and water pollution, dam removal effects, and other issues related to the Sandy River Gorge. Copies of reports of previous work are available as examples of the nature and scope of suitable projects. A list of previous project awards is provided below.
Information about this fellowship can be obtained from Dr. Keith Karoly (Biology Dept.) or from the Chair of the Biology Department.
Applications for the Sandy River Gorge Field Study Award should be submitted to Kayla Johnston (B115), Biology Administrative Coordinator according to the annual deadline posted on the application form.
