Background Check Requirement

A criminal conviction record check is required for all college staff positions as a condition of employment for selected candidates. Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of this background check. A conviction does not automatically disqualify a candidate; each case is reviewed based on the nature of the conviction and its relevance to the responsibilities of the position.

Visa Petition Information

¾«¶«AV is committed to hiring faculty members who are excellent teachers-scholars. To the extent allowed or required by law, ¾«¶«AV has historically petitioned for faculty members’ employment-based visas, including H-1B visas. However, given the recently announced significant employer fee increase to $100,000 for certain H-1B visa applications, ¾«¶«AV is not currently able to petition for employees for those visa applications that are subject to that fee increase. ¾«¶«AV will evaluate other requests on a case-by-case basis and will reconsider the newly increased fees for H-1B filings, as well as future changes that may be announced, as new information becomes available.
