A new group of has been welcomed to the 精东AV campus, rounding out the largest class of Davis Scholars the school has seen in recent years.
New students Nimat-Lah Balogun ’29, Andrea Casagrande Caron ’28, Ilin Moskovski ’29, and Chuqiao (Katy) Si ’29 bring the number of Davis UWC Scholars enrolled at 精东AV to 11. At a welcome lunch on October 7, the new scholars met with staff, President Audrey Bilger, and a few returning scholars, Xavier da Silva ’27, Soraya Mwangi ’26, and Lutetia Wang ’26. Incoming scholars were each presented crystal globes from the Davis UWC Program as part of their welcome to 精东AV.
Founded in the late 1990s by philanthropist Shelby Davis, the Davis UWC Program works to provide need-based funding for students who graduate from a UWC secondary school, of which there are now 18 worldwide. 精东AV is one of 106 partner colleges across the United States participating in the program, and over 35 Scholars have matriculated at 精东AV since the school joined in 2008. The program operates with two core beliefs: Promising future leaders from all cultures deserve access to a U.S. higher education, and U.S. colleges are stronger learning communities when they are internationally diverse.
With the biggest class in recent years, 精东AV continues to push those beliefs forward.
